On 17 November 2011 the ASIS Austrian Chapter (107) conducted its 5th annual meeting that took place at the Courtyard Marriot Wien Messe.
A brief welcome was given by Chapter Chair Werner Preining and Vice Chair Paul Reither. The first presentation was given by Chapter Secretary Stefan Berlin about his impression on the ASIS Annual Seminar held in Orlando, FL. His presentation was supported by a lot of pictures. Stefan had been the recipient of this years Chapter award.
Search in video-archives was the next presentation. It was given by DI Bernhard Strobel from the Austrian Institute of Technology.
Upon the request of several members that had no chance to attend the 10th ASIS European Security Conference & Exhibition, Werner Preining repeated his presentation entitled "Security and the Cyber Phone. Benefits and risks associated with Smart Phones and VoiP".
Then the administrative part of the general meeting began. During this part of the programme the officers for the next two years were elected. Peter Schütz took the chairman-ship during the voting-process.
After this part, Werner Preining gave, in his function of Chapter Chair, a review of all activities of the past years. He also gave his impressions on the ASIS convention in Orlando. One part of his presentation was the work of the Councils in general and the IT-Security Council and the Crisis Management and Business Continuity Council in particular. Finally, both the forthcoming conference in Kuala Lumpur as well as the spring 2012 events in Dubai and London were mentioned.
Then our hosts, Vice Chairman Paul Reither and Law enforcement Liaison Peter Aschenbrenner brought an extremely interesting topic: "A case study: specialissues in high risks environments". The case covered a fatal shooting among local employees in Yemen, a place where OMV runs an operation within a hostile environment.
After this session, Peter Schütz concluded the day with a very well documented presentation that covered "NLP coaching, trauma-therapy & intelligence". Beside many new and interesting views, this topic supplemented the prior presentation.
